Education Officer – Hodeida
Job Purpose:
Save the Children International (SCI) Yemen Country Programme has an annual budget of around USD 70 million and growing, working mainly on the humanitarian response to the ongoing conflict and its impact including more recently on the cholera outbreak. The SCI Yemen has over 700 staff and 1500 volunteers and works in nine governorates in the north and south of the country through seven field offices and two sub-offices in addition to the main office in Sana’a.
The Education Officer oversees and supports the direct implementation of the Education projects grants in Hodeida.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- With the support of the Acting education Programme Manager, oversee the implementation of the Education in Emergencies Programme in Hodeida and ensure the timely delivery of the project activities;
- Raise and follow up the procurement of project material and follow up with relevant department to ensure getting thing on time;
- In collaboration with the Education Programme Officer, ensure that project is being implemented according to budget, time and quality parameters set out in agreement between SC and donors;
- Coordinate with relevant local authorities, community leaders, and other relevant key stakeholders such as local NGOs, CBOs in the implementation of the education project in Hodeida;
- Support the direct implementation of the project activities such as the training of student councils and children club members, community mobilization activities, PTAs and the distribution of recreational and educational material to schools;
- Supervision of project assistants;
- Develop weekly and monthly work plan for the education project and support assistants in preparing individual weekly work plans and review their performance on weekly and monthly basis;
- Develop weekly transportation plans, prepare and follow-up PRs for trainings and other activities;
- Write weekly and monthly project alation plans, prepare and follow-up PRs for trainings and reports and support the development of donor reports;
- Lead Education campaigns with the support of programme officer.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
- At least a bachelor degree in education or any other related field;
- At least 2 years experience in working with NGOs on Education or relevant program; roject in Aden and bilisation
- Demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of children in the school and community;
- Strong understanding of the contextual situation related to education;
- Protection / community development experience;
- Training skills;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Capacity to work with a team;
- Ability to travel independently, including to rural communities and work long hours;
- Capacity to work under pressure;
- Computer skills in word, excel and power point.
