Duration:      Till August 31, 2020, renewable based on fund availability & performance

It has presence in 14 Governorates in Yemen responding to all areas of humanitarian sectors. ADRA Yemen is undertaking programs in Yemen in the fields of health, child protection, education, women's protection and empowerment, NFI and food distribution, cash assistance, and livelihoods programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding and coordination.

SUMMARY:

The health and nutrition coordinator is responsible for the health facility management in general. This includes both administrative duties like managing staff and keeping a professional work environment, and technical duties like medical planning and tracking. The health and nutrition coordinator is the highest ranking position in the health facility and is expected to be a role model for all staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Health and Nutrition Coordinator will be responsible but not limited to:

  • The health and Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for providing technical and administrative support to implement health and nutrition activities in the health facilities supported by ADRA.
  • Overall management of the health facility: including planning, needs re-assessment, and mobilization, financial planning and tracking, supervision of national staff, technical guidance, reporting, through the teams under his/her direct supervision and in coordination with support departments and programs manger.
  • Represents ADRA in Health and Nutrition Clusters and health offices in the governorates.
  • Get hold of agreements and memorandums of understanding with the health offices in the governorates, the Health & Nutrition clusters.
  • Attend health and nutrition cluster meetings whenever convened.
  • Coordinate with the field/Health/Nutrition officers to obtain required data from the health facilities, review them and submit them duly to the MEAL Department and Programs Manager.
  • Evaluating personnel responsible for performing health and nutrition activities and duties in the field.
  • Proposing policies to regulate work performance in the hospital.
  • Managing annual budget in light of volume of activities to be executed.
  • Continuous consultation with the direct Supervisor regarding what is emerging in the field of work with a view to modernizing and developing curative services.
  • Follow up to providing devices and equipment necessary for the Workflow in health facilities and following up the procedures for operating and maintaining them.
  • Managing subordinates and developing their skills.
  • Ensure timely reporting in of activities in accordance with set deadlines.
  • Participate and supervision in the conduction of Health and nutrition research studies, Best practice documentation, publication, surveys and campaigns.
  • Ensure that all project activities are being implemented in line with ADRA internal policies, at the same time respecting donor and cluster regulations as well as international humanitarian
  • Provide overall direction focusing on program team to achieve agreed targets and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Perform any other tasks as required by line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in nutritional science, or food science or health sciences
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in Health and Nutrition sector; experience with INGO required.
  • Minimum of 2 years professional experience in lead management implementing emergency response programs in a conflict setting.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.
  • Excellent Computer skills.
  • Leadership qualities, motivational skills, mentoring ability; proven experience overseeing and developing a team
  • An understanding of biochemistry or human physiology
